The Woodbury Youth Orchestra summer camps offers a fun and comprehensive study of musical technique and ensemble skills. The emphasis of the camps is to develop skills through musicianship classes and ensemble experiences. The camp is staffed by highly reputable string educators from the Twin Cities and surrounding area, who bring a wide range of experiences and knowledge with their teaching. Level I--Prelude Strings is for students entering grades 3-6 who have at least two years of playing experience. Students must be able to read music. String students attending Prelude Strings will experience a comprehensive music program in a fun and nurturing environment. Overall musical ability will be developed through:

• full ensemble
• sectional coaching
• classes and activities on musical subjects
• individual practice guided by a staff member
• a concluding concert

Level II--Chamber Strings is for string students entering grades 7-12 with at least 4 years of playing experience. Students need to have a working knowledge of 3^rd position (violin/viola) or 4^th position(cello). Students attending Chamber Strings will broaden and fine-tune their ensemble skills, technical ability, and overall musicianship by participating in:

• full ensemble

   

• sectional coaching

   

• informal master classes

   

• music theory

   

• ear training

   

• individual practice guided by a staff member

   

• special guest demonstrations/lectures

   

• private lesson from camp staff member

   

• a concluding concert

   

Time: 8:00-12:30pm

Cost: $250
